Ann Asks:
Should I also eat vegetable/nut smoothie?
Vegetables, starches and nuts
Vegetables
Vegetables are Great – generally low in calories but mix well with most any starch. Heat in vitamix to comfortable soup temperature or cold if you prefer, cooking starches like most potatoes, beans and rice first is fine (freeze in portions for convenience) Eat all the greens you want.
Starches are the storehouse of calories
Explore these:
- Beans (soak and cook)
- Grains and rice (soak and cook)
- See rice diet book
- Potatoes Baked (Max Gerson books recommended potatoes )
I like a pinto bean and rice blend seasoned with turmeric (anti inflammatory herb)
Hummus is nice on occasion.
Nuts
Nuts are high in fat do not over do nuts.
The Rice Diet Program was originated by Dr. Walter Kempner in 1939 at Duke University Medical Center for the treatment of high blood pressure and kidney disease. It was soon found to be effective in the prevention and treatment of angina pectoris, heart failure, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, and obesity.
